This DIY tutorial on how to make hand sanitizer is simple and easy in this step by step tutorial. I’ll show you how to make hand sanitizer with all natural ingredients so that you don’t die of cancer or some other funky disease caused by carcinogens.

Making hand sanitizer at home is fun and what I liked most about this DIY tutorial was the ability to make the hand sanitizer that is not filled with harsh chemicals and alcohol. I also love the way that this hand sanitizer smells! I used a few simple supplies; tea tree oil, lavender oil, and clove oil which are antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic. Then I add lemongrass oil and a citrus oil blend because I love the way they smell and because citrus oils tend to be mood-lifting (always a bonus!) You can really use any combination of oils you love, just be sure to include some good germ fighting oils (such as the tea tree, and clove). There are so many scented variations that you can really make your hand sanitizer exactly how you want it to smell and feel.

Here are the supplies that I used in this DIY tutorial on how to make hand sanitizer with homemade supplies:

1/2 C. Aloe Vera Gel (Not the kind for sunburns that is filled with a lot of other ingredients – try to find 98% or 100% pure!)
1 tsp. Witch Hazel
1/2 tsp. Vegetable Glycerine (This ingredient is optional. It is a natural humectant and is great at helping to soften the skin.)
1/2 tsp. Vitamin E Oil (To soften and nourish the skin. It also helps to preserve your hand sanitizer, making it last longer!)
10 drops Tea Tree Oil
5 drops Lavender Oil
5 drops Clove Bud Oil
5 drops Lemongrass* or Lemon Oil* (optional)
5 drops citrus blend oil* (optional)

*These oils are optional. I love the way they smell. Feel free to add a few drops of any citrus (or other) essential oil you love!

When it comes to essential oils it is always best to check to see if you are allergic to any of the oils before adding them to your hand sanitizer and rubbing it all over your hands! This is a good rule of thumb when it comes to children. I use this hand sanitizer for my 4 children and it works beautifully. They love it!

I think that I’m saving about half of the money I typically spend on laundry detergent. The same thing goes for that DIY tutorial as well… you can make your laundry detergent smell exactly how you would like. Frankly I like the smell of my detergent better than the store purchased types.

About The Author

I am "The" untidy artist.

I was born in Highland Utah. I'm married with 4 crazy kids. My husband is always on my case about cleaning my craft room (blah blah blah). Both of my parents were artists and I think I got some of their artistry bug in me. A few years ago I started messing around with hair accessroies and had so many people ask to purchase them that I decided to start teaching others how to make them. That turned into my Youtube channel and this website. Hope you enjoy the tutorials!!!
